Upon completion of her PhD, Martinique Perkins Waters spent three years in a primary research position in the School of Public Health. As a faculty member in the Department of Health Behavior, She studied the health outcomes of family caregivers. During that time, Dr. Perkins Waters worked collaboratively with her peers to publish seven manuscripts and worked on several non-profit, private, and federal grants. Additionally, She made 15 presentations on her research and spent a year training in Health Disparities Research program. She used the knowledge she gained as a RCMAR Health Disparities scholar in both her research and as the course master for a graduate level African American Health Issues course. Since 2013, Dr. Perkins Waters has been in a part-time faculty position at UAB and Jefferson-State Community College. She educates students on both the basis of psychological principles and introduce them to the advanced skills required to complete a research project.
Dr. Perkins-Waters is now Assistant Professor of Psychology at The University of West Alabama.
